In the year 20XX, a brilliant scientist Dr. Light concieved the construction of fully-opperational human- like experimental robots to perform specific everyday duties. Dr. Light, and his assistant Dr. Wily, encouraged by their very first near-human robot - MegaMan - proceeded to develope six additional Humanoids, all programmed to perform tasks which humans cannot do. Soon later however, Dr. Wily turned disloyal, re-programming Dr. Light's Humanoids, now bent on destroying opposition so Dr. Wily can control the world and it's resources.

Resisting re-programming, MegaMan is chosen as the defender of the universe and its inhabitants. MegaMan dares to single-handedly penetrate the leaders and followers of these sovereignties.
